U.S. pushes UN Security Council to adopt Trump’s Gaza peace plan
The United States is pressing the UN Security Council to adopt a resolution based on President Trump’s Gaza plan, calling it the only viable path to prevent renewed war between Israel and Hamas. U.S. Ambassador Michael Waltz told diplomats the alternative was to “watch the cease-fire collapse into chaos.”

The proposal envisions establishing a “Board of Peace” to oversee Gaza through 2027, managing reconstruction and coordinating local Palestinian governance under international supervision. A stabilization force would work with Egypt and Israel to secure borders, protect civilians, and support Palestinian police units.
However, some UN members remain wary, citing the plan’s lack of a pathway to Palestinian statehood and limited clarity on enforcement if Hamas refuses to disarm. Analysts note Arab states are unlikely to send troops without assurances of political progress. Despite the skepticism, Washington insists the resolution is the best framework for restoring long-term stability in Gaza.
