The United Kingdom will train Turkish pilots and technicians for Typhoon fighter jets

The United Kingdom and Turkey have signed a contract to train Turkish pilots in flying and maintaining Typhoon fighter jets as part of an £8 billion (€9.2 billion) deal concluded last year.

This was reported by the British Ministry of Defense.

The new contract provides for the training of Turkish pilots and ground crew in the UK as Turkey prepares to operate the first batch of British Typhoon fighter jets.

British and Turkish Defense Ministers John Healey and Yasar Guler signed the agreement in London, marking the next phase of Turkey’s integration into the European Eurofighter program and the strengthening of NATO’s combat capabilities.

Under the terms of the contract, 10 Turkish pilots and nearly 100 ground technicians will undergo training in the UK. The agreement also provides for the production of components and spare parts for the aircraft to ensure their maintenance with the support of British industry, including companies such as BAE Systems, Leonardo UK, MBDA, Rolls-Royce, and Martin Baker.

The contract is part of a major £8 billion export deal between Ankara and London signed in October 2025.

As a reminder, Ukrainian military pilots are undergoing training in the UK to become helicopter flight instructors.

As a reminder, the Ukrainian Air Force has effectively surpassed the Americans in implementing the Agile Combat Employment (ACE) concept—flexible combat use of aviation.
