The Russian Supreme Court has begun hearing a lawsuit seeking to disqualify the Yabloko party from the State Duma elections.
Hundreds of people gathered outside the courthouse in support of the party. According to Yabloko’s estimates, about 500 supporters arrived at the courthouse, and people continued to arrive.
The day before, party leader Nikolai Rybakov called on supporters to come to the courthouse. According to the Telegram channel “Slovo Zashchite,” a police van also arrived at the building.
Kremlin press secretary Dmitry Peskov stated that he does not consider the Russian party “Yabloko” to be a full-fledged political force. At the same time, he denied that the authorities are putting pressure on anti-war politicians ahead of the State Duma elections. Against this backdrop, the party itself continues to face challenges during the election campaign.
Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov stated that he is not happy to be running for office again, but is doing so out of necessity.
