Explosion on British-flagged oil tanker near Kuwait waters
The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) agency reported an explosion on a British-flagged oil tanker in waters approximately 55 km from Kuwait. The incident occurred about 30 nautical miles southeast of Mubarak Al-Kabeer, Kuwait.
According to UKMTO, the captain received a report of the explosion and witnessed a strong blast from the vessel’s port side. A small boat was observed leaving the area shortly thereafter. An oil leak from the cargo tank has been detected in the water. There is no current information on fire or casualties.
