Video: Navrotsky Found Himself at the Center of a Scandal Involving Ukraine Due to His Inconsistency
Polish President Karol Nawrocki, who had previously asserted the right of Ukrainians to independently determine their national heroes and shape their historical memory, is now facing criticism for alleged inconsistency in his actions and statements regarding Ukraine.
While serving as head of the Institute of National Remembrance of Poland, he emphasized that Poles do not intend to interfere in the internal affairs of a neighboring state or choose names for Ukrainian streets.
Navrotsky clearly stated that if Stepan Bandera or Roman Shukhevych are heroes to Ukrainian society, then he, as the head of the relevant Polish institute, has no objection to that.
As a reminder, Marcin Przydacz, head of the Polish President’s Office for International Policy, stated that the Ukrainian side had canceled the planned meetings between President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Poland’s newly elected President Karol Nawrocki.
Former Ukrainian Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman announced that he had returned the Knight’s Cross of the Order of Merit of the Republic of Poland, which he received in 2011 for promoting regional cooperation between Ukrainian and Polish cities.
On June 20, former Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko also announced that he was renouncing the Polish state order, emphasizing that this step was not directed against the Polish people; at the same time, he also made critical remarks about incumbent President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
