Video: Thousands of People Are Being Evacuated in France Due to Large-Scale Wildfires
In France, authorities have ordered a new evacuation due to the worsening wildfire situation. Nearly 4,000 people are to be evacuated from the Lacanau area on the Atlantic coast.
The evacuation affects tourists and vacationers staying at campgrounds, resort villages, tourist residences, and amusement parks. Firefighters continue to battle the blaze, which is spreading due to challenging weather conditions.
Regional authorities in the Gironde department reported that the evacuation covers the Lacanau Ocean resort and both shores of Lake Lacanau.

Residents were instructed to take their personal belongings with them, follow emergency guidelines, and not return to their homes until authorized to do so by the authorities.

The evacuation order came as deteriorating weather conditions threatened to intensify the wildfires.

More than 300,000 people have been evacuated in France and Spain due to massive wildfires that have swept through regions of Southern Europe. In southwestern France, in the Gironde region, more than 220,000 residents have left their homes. The fire there has spread across approximately 32,700 hectares.
As a reminder, French passengers who purchased train tickets to the region around Bordeaux will be able to exchange or refund them free of charge. This decision was made due to the large-scale wildfires that have complicated the situation in the area.
