VIDEO: A mass brawl broke out between government officials and the opposition at Yerevan City Hall
In Yerevan, a meeting of the Council of Elders ended in a mass brawl between representatives of the ruling “Civic Contract” party and the opposition “Mother Armenia” faction.
The conflict began after a heated argument between Yerevan’s First Deputy Mayor Armen Pambukhchyan and opposition lawmaker Gevorg Stepanyan. During the verbal exchange, insults were hurled back and forth, after which Stepanyan was escorted out of the chamber.
Subsequently, a representative of the ruling faction threw an object at the opposition lawmaker and attacked him, triggering a mass brawl among those present.
Female lawmakers also joined the conflict. One of the participants splashed water on her opponent, after which a fight broke out between them as well.
Due to the disturbances, the leadership of the Council of Elders was forced to call a 30-minute recess.
