Video: Authorities in Moldova are investigating the cause of a massive explosion near Chisinau
On the night of September 18, a powerful explosion rocked the village of Kolonitsa, near Chisinau. Law enforcement officials are currently investigating its cause.
The first reports from local residents reached the police around 4:20 a.m. Law enforcement officers searched Kolonitsa and neighboring settlements but initially found no evidence of the explosion, no traces of it, or any objects that could have caused it. The search was expanded to Dolynne and Maksymivka.
At 4:20 a.m., police received several reports from witnesses about a very loud explosion in the southwestern part of the village of Kolonitsa, located 2 km east of the outskirts of Chisinau. The sound was captured by surveillance cameras.
Law enforcement officers went to survey the area but, at that time, did not identify a possible site of the explosion or any objects that could have caused it. The search has been expanded to the neighboring villages of Dolynne and Maksymivka.
Local residents are advised to be on the lookout for suspicious objects and to call the police if they spot any.
It should be noted that last night, the Odesa region of Ukraine was once again under Russian airstrikes; the Air Force reported a threat from “Banderole” munitions, guided aerial bombs (KABs), and jet-powered drones.
