Video: Ursula von der Leyen Showed Her Farm and Asked for Help
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen gave a tour of her farm. She posted a video featuring her chickens and asked her followers for help.
In the video, Ursula von der Leyen introduced a hen named Chikellett and her two chicks and shared the story of these birds. According to the farmer, Chikellettta raised chicks that weren’t her own. Ursula von der Leyen also appeared in the video. She was wearing a plain T-shirt and filming herself in the yard, where the chickens were in a coop.
“Our little hen, Chikellett, didn’t have an easy life on the farm. She mostly kept to herself, and the other hens bullied her. Then she started incubating eggs, even though she didn’t have any of her own. Three days before the chicks were due to hatch, a hen from another farm abandoned her eggs. They were quickly placed in an incubator, and two tiny chicks managed to survive. We placed them under Chikeletta. She tucked them under her wings and adopted them right away! Now they’re one happy family, protected from buzzards and hawks behind the fence,” von der Leyen said.
Now the chicks need names, so von der Leyen turned to her audience, asking users to suggest their own ideas. “Now they’re just missing two names. So write your suggestions in the comments. Help us come up with names for these two adorable little chicks! Their story is remarkable in its own right,” the president wrote.
Earlier, Ursula von der Leyen condemned Russia’s attacks on the Kyiv region and Sloviansk.
