Video: Law enforcement officers in Spain rescued a dog during a forest fire
Officers of the Spanish Civil Guard rescued a dog while evacuating residents from homes threatened by massive wildfires. The animal was found during the rescue operation and brought out of the danger zone. The rescue was captured on video.
The incident occurred on Friday, July 24. Emergency services were rushing to move people and animals to safety.
Video footage shows officers carrying a large dog away from the advancing flames during the emergency evacuation.
The Spanish Civil Guard stated that the intensity of the wildfire forced a rapid evacuation of nearby homes, adding that “every second is against us” and that they would not leave anyone behind.
Spain had previously declared a state of emergency due to the widespread fires.
A new heat wave that has swept across Spain since Tuesday has led to the declaration of an “orange” alert in seven of the country’s autonomous communities. In some areas, temperatures could reach 41°C or higher.
