The U.S. Navy has intercepted more than 140 vessels linked to Iran

The U.S. Navy has intercepted more than 140 vessels linked to Iran

Since the start of the naval blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, the U.S. Navy has intercepted 141 merchant ships with ties to Iran. In addition, the U.S. military has completely disabled nine vessels to ensure security and law and order in the region.

The U.S. enforcement initiative targets only vessels from any country heading to or departing from Iranian ports and coastal areas, covering all of Tehran’s port hubs in the Persian and Omani Gulfs. For other international maritime carriers, the transit trade corridor operates as usual without restrictions.

This was reported by the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) on social media platform X.

The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has officially denied U.S. President Donald Trump’s statement that a bilateral memorandum of understanding would be signed on Sunday, June 14.

U.S. President Donald Trump announced that the United States and Iran could sign a peace agreement as early as Sunday, June 14. According to the American leader, once the agreements take effect, shipping through the Strait of Hormuz—one of the world’s most critical energy routes—will be fully restored.

Iran has strengthened the protection of its highly enriched uranium stockpiles by setting up booby traps and blocking access to underground storage facilities. According to sources, in recent weeks Tehran has been deliberately destroying the entrances to underground tunnels, further fortifying storage facilities, and making access to potential uranium reserves more difficult.

The IAEA Board of Governors adopted a resolution requiring Iran to immediately provide information on its uranium stockpiles. The decision marks another step in international pressure on Tehran amid the escalating situation surrounding its nuclear program.
