Vance Confirms Direct U.S. Talks with the Houthis — Al Arabiya
The United States is conducting direct negotiations with the Yemeni Houthis amid the escalating situation in the region. U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance made this statement on Monday.
According to him, Washington is also in constant contact with Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.
“We are also conducting direct negotiations with the Houthis themselves. So we truly believe we have the situation under control. It is very volatile and dynamic, so we want to continue monitoring it,” Vance said.
It should be noted that in recent weeks, the Houthis have intensified their attacks on commercial shipping as well as against Saudi Arabia.
Against this backdrop, Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman met Monday in Jeddah with the commander of U.S. Central Command, which is responsible for operations in the Middle East.
Earlier, Al Arabiya English reported that Mohammed bin Salman had spoken several times with U.S. President Donald Trump to coordinate actions in response to the deteriorating situation in Yemen.
According to the publication, Trump allegedly promised Saudi Arabia intelligence support and assistance in identifying targets after the Houthis made significant advances along the Red Sea coast.
“The United States is in constant contact with Saudi Arabia and the UAE. This is an issue that our administration is monitoring very closely,” Vance said.
