Wizz Air is expanding its presence in Chisinau by increasing the frequency of its flights

Hungarian low-cost carrier Wizz Air has announced plans to expand its operations at Chisinau Airport, a key logistics hub for Ukrainian travelers. Starting September 18, 2026, the airline will station a fifth aircraft in the Moldovan capital, adding more than 500,000 passenger seats per year.

As noted on the airline’s website, this decision will significantly increase flight frequencies to key cities in Italy, France, Germany, Belgium, Cyprus, and the Czech Republic.

In particular, flights will be increased to four Italian cities (Venice, Bergamo, Bologna, Verona), as well as to Paris, Nice, Brussels, Berlin, Larnaca, and Prague. Currently, Wizz Air already serves 35 destinations from Moldova, covering 16 countries worldwide. The expansion of the fleet in the region aims to meet the growing demand for affordable air travel within Europe.

For Ukrainians, this move is particularly relevant, as Chisinau Airport remains one of the closest and most sought-after gateways to European airspace given the closure of Ukraine’s own airspace. Additional flights and increased seat capacity may help stabilize prices on popular routes. Tickets for the updated schedule are already available for booking.

German airline Lufthansa has officially announced a forced increase in ticket prices and a reduction in its flight schedule.

British airlines have been allowed to cancel or consolidate flights to save on jet fuel. In this way, authorities are trying to avoid widespread disruptions during the summer season
