Zelenskyy and the Ukrainian people will receive the "Four Freedoms" Award

On Thursday, April 16, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and the Ukrainian people will be honored with the prestigious international Four Freedoms Award. The award ceremony will take place in Middelburg, the Netherlands.

This was reported on the official website of the Four Freedoms Award.

The Roosevelt Foundation’s Board of Directors emphasized that this award is a demonstration of support and deep respect for the courage, perseverance, and extraordinary resilience of Ukrainians, who have been fighting tirelessly for independence, justice, and democracy since 2022. The Foundation’s chairman noted that the Ukrainian people have become a symbol of the struggle for the values once proclaimed by Franklin Roosevelt.

The “Four Freedoms” Award is presented annually by the Roosevelt Institute to individuals and organizations that have made significant contributions to the defense of freedom of speech, freedom of religion, freedom from want, and freedom from fear. The awarding of the prize in 2026 underscores the global significance of the Ukrainian resistance for the entire free world.

This event takes place against the backdrop of the aggressor country’s prolonged economic decline, where the onset of a systemic recession was officially recorded in April 2026. At the same time, Ukraine continues to strengthen its diplomatic positions and gain recognition at the highest international level.

Participation in the ceremony is another step toward uniting European partners in support of Ukraine. It is expected that new statements regarding further assistance in the country’s recovery and the protection of its democratic choice will be made during the event. The “Four Freedoms” Award is considered one of the most prestigious honors in the field of human rights and international peace.

Earlier, Ukraine’s Ambassador to the U.S., Oksana Markarova, received the Medal of Freedom on behalf of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, which was presented by Frederick Ryan, head of the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy was honored with the prestigious European Charlemagne Prize.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy also became a laureate of the Nemtsov Foundation Award
