Ukraine has called for an emergency meeting of the UN General Assembly over the shelling of the grain corridor

Ukraine has called for an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council on July 27 in connection with the suspension of civilian shipping through the Black Sea corridor. This was announced by Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga.

According to the foreign minister, in recent days, Russia has bombed at least three civilian cargo ships, resulting in deaths and injuries among the crews. This has led to a complete halt in traffic through the maritime corridor at the peak of the harvest season.

Sybiga emphasized that such actions constitute deliberate economic and humanitarian terrorism, which threatens the food security of millions of families in Africa, Asia, Latin America, and the Middle East. Ukraine called on the international community to resolutely counter Russia’s attempts to undermine freedom of navigation.

This was stated by Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga in Kharkiv.

The Indian Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned Russian Chargé d’Affaires Vladimir Ladanov, expressing “unequivocal condemnation” of the Russian strike on the civilian dry cargo ship MV Golden Leo near the port of Odesa. Ten people were killed in the attack, including four Indian sailors and a Ukrainian pilot.

The Ministry of Community and Territorial Development of Ukraine emphasized that such attacks pose a danger to international shipping, undermine the stability of global trade, and threaten global food security.

Earlier, on July 13, Russian forces launched an attack on Odesa. The attack resulted in a strike on a city transportation infrastructure facility.
