Strawberries Have Gotten Cheaper Again: How Much Do They Cost at the Market?

Strawberries are once again being sold actively in Ukrainian markets. Although the main season has already ended, the berries can be purchased wholesale for as low as 100 UAH per kilogram.

According to observers at the Capital Market, the third strawberry season has already begun. Larger berries are selling for a higher price—approximately 140–160 UAH per kilogram.

Interestingly, some berries and fruits that are not usually expected to be on sale in mid-August are also still available on the market. In particular, sweet cherries can be purchased for about 120 UAH per kilogram, while raspberries from Uman cost around 300 UAH per kilogram.

Among seasonal fruits, peaches are currently the cheapest. Wholesalers are selling the Redhaven variety for about 50 UAH/kg, and the “White Swan” variety for up to 85 UAH/kg, depending on size. Smaller peaches can be found for about 35 UAH/kg.

Apricots cost an average of 60–80 UAH/kg, plums start at 30 UAH/kg, and the “Kyrgyz” variety costs about 45 UAH/kg.

Grapes from Nikopol are sold for 140–160 UAH/kg. “Antonivka” apples cost about 30 UAH/kg, “Bilyi Naliv” apples—20–40 UAH/kg, and pears—approximately 45 UAH/kg.

At the same time, prices for high-quality strawberries in Lviv remain significantly higher. At the “Shuvar” market, the average price per kilogram is around 190 UAH, while the lowest price is about 170 UAH.

In Ukraine, in August 2026, buckwheat may rise in price to 80–83 hryvnias per kilogram. Despite a slight decrease in price in July, there are currently no signs of further price drops, according to the Institute of Agricultural Economics.

In July, fresh-harvest vegetables became significantly cheaper in Ukraine, especially potatoes, carrots, beets, cabbage, and cucumbers. At the same time, some fruits, berries, and greenhouse vegetables remain expensive due to the heat, storage costs, and seasonal factors.
