In the Kyiv region, heat-related restrictions have been imposed and truck traffic has been limited due to the heat
On June 30, the Kyiv region implemented a “heat regime” for heavy-duty vehicles due to rising air temperatures. The restrictions take effect at 11:00 a.m. and are intended to protect the road surface from damage during extreme heat.
According to the established rules, when the air temperature reaches +28°C or higher, trucks with a gross vehicle weight exceeding 24 metric tons or an axle load exceeding 7 metric tons are prohibited from driving.
Law enforcement officials emphasize that while the restrictions are in effect, drivers are advised to use specially designated areas for temporary parking:
- on highway shoulders;
- near road service facilities.
The main purpose of implementing the “heat regime” is to protect the road surface from deformation and damage that may result from high temperatures and the weight of large vehicles.
The police noted that the lifting of the restrictions will be announced separately through official information channels.
At the same time, the restrictions do not apply to vehicles performing critical tasks, including:
- those responding to emergencies;
- transporting hazardous cargo;
- transporting perishable goods;
- transporting live animals and poultry;
- carrying out military transport;
- deliver cargo for Ukraine’s defense needs.
Drivers are urged to take these temporary restrictions into account when planning their routes and to stay updated on the latest information regarding the operation of the Kyiv region’s transportation infrastructure.
This was reported by the Kyiv Region Patrol Police.
