Bogdan Tymchik, 21, who is suspected of carrying out a double terrorist attack in Bucha, told the court that he acted under psychological pressure and blackmail from an unknown handler whom he met in an online game.
According to him, on March 9, he met another player in World of Tanks, after which they began communicating on Telegram.
His new acquaintance asked him to pick up a package in Zhytomyr and deliver it to another person. Tymchyk claims he complied with the request, and that the package allegedly contained drugs. He refused to cooperate further, after which his contact stopped mentioning the delivery.
Later, according to the suspect, the pressure began. The unknown individual allegedly disclosed his mother’s personal information and threatened to strike her location in the combat zone with a drone.
Tymchyk stated that he was under constant surveillance: his handler sent him photos taken as he left his home. Under this pressure, he agreed to prepare two packages, purchasing various substances and items as instructed.
He also claims that he did not realize he was making explosives and was afraid to contact law enforcement due to the threats.
According to the suspect, on March 23, he left one package near a bench and the other near a trash can, placing a smartphone nearby to record the act. He added that the handler never showed his face and always initiated contact first.
Law enforcement detained the suspect in connection with a series of explosions in Bucha within two hours of the incident.
As a reminder, a double terrorist attack occurred near a residential building in Bucha this morning, injuring police officers.
The SBU also announced that it had charged a woman from Kharkiv with luring police officers into a terrorist attack in Lviv.
