An official at a Kyiv university overpaid 600,000 hryvnias for a projector for the theater
An official at the I.K. Karpenko-Karyi has been notified of suspicion of official negligence resulting in serious consequences (Part 2 of Article 367 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The official, who was responsible for organizing and conducting public procurement, failed to properly monitor market prices before announcing the tender.
Due to the lack of market analysis, an artificially inflated estimated cost was set for the purchase of a set of projection equipment for the training theater’s stage. As a result, only one supplier participated in the bidding process, with whom the university entered into a contract for a total amount of 1.5 million hryvnias.

Experts engaged by law enforcement conducted an investigation and determined that the actual cost of the purchased equipment was significantly lower than the contract amount. According to the findings of the forensic examination, the state university unjustifiably overpaid more than 600,000 UAH for the equipment. A pre-trial investigation is currently underway to establish all the circumstances of the offense.
