The stabilization of the situation on the battlefield and the victory of pro-democratic forces in Hungary are forcing the Russian dictator to reconsider the timeline for the war against Ukraine. The Kremlin leader is facing a shortage of resources for escalation and a gradual loss of control over key strategic areas.

Polish Foreign Minister Sikorski noted during a discussion with his Ukrainian counterpart at the PISM Strategic Ark conference that Russia is currently losing more personnel than it is able to mobilize. According to him, the occupying forces have already lost the battle for the Black Sea, and Russian aviation does not have an advantage in Ukrainian airspace. An additional factor putting pressure on Moscow is the deterioration of the Russian economy, which is beginning to feel the real consequences of prolonged aggression.
Western partners must prepare for a protracted conflict to demonstrate their readiness to support Ukraine for as long as necessary. According to the Polish minister, the dictator will be ready for genuine negotiations only when he finally acknowledges the impossibility of achieving his initial goals. Europe’s emergence from political paralysis, thanks to changes in the Hungarian government, has sent an important signal to Russia regarding the strengthening of Western unity.
