Air defense forces shot down 87 enemy drones during a massive nighttime attack
On the night of April 13, Russian occupation forces launched a large-scale attack on Ukrainian territory, deploying 98 strike drones of various types.
This was reported by the Ukrainian Air Force.
The enemy launched attacks simultaneously from six directions, attempting to overwhelm Ukraine’s air defense system.
For this aerial terror campaign, the enemy used not only the familiar “Shahed” drones—of which about 65 were recorded—but also “Gerbera” and “Italmas” drones.
The launches were conducted from the Russian cities of Orel, Bryansk, Kursk, Millerovo, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk, as well as from the temporarily occupied Crimea.
Ukrainian air defenders demonstrated high effectiveness in repelling the attack using aviation, anti-aircraft missile forces, and electronic warfare units.
Mobile fire groups and unmanned aerial vehicle units played a crucial role in neutralizing the threat.
As of 08:00, air defense forces managed to shoot down and neutralize 87 enemy drones in the northern and eastern regions of the country using electronic warfare assets.
The Air Force Command emphasizes the professional work of all defense units during the repulsion of this attack.
Despite the successful work of air defense, nine strike drones were recorded hitting nine different locations.
Additionally, debris from downed aerial attack vehicles was documented at one location.
As a reminder, Russia is deploying new Geran-5 jet drones capable of speeds up to 600 km/h.
As a reminder, in the Kharkiv sector of operations, Ukrainian troops spotted a Russian all-terrain ground robotic complex, the “Chelnok.”
