Scandal in Paris: Opponents Accuse Djokovic of Feigning Injury

Following a hard-fought victory at the 2026 French Open, Novak Djokovic faced a barrage of criticism from his opponent’s team, who accused him of faking an injury during the match. Despite this, the Serbian advanced to the next round of the tournament and continues his quest for another title. This was reported by Tiempo de Tennis.

Legendary Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic became the main topic of discussion at Roland Garros 2026 after a tense second-round match against Frenchman Valentin Rohrer, which lasted over three and a half hours and ended in a victory for the favorite, but left behind plenty of emotions and controversy.

The match took place under intense pressure from the Parisian crowd, which actively supported their player, and it was in this atmosphere that Djokovic repeatedly showed signs of discomfort, clutching his back and muscles, which immediately prompted a sharp reaction from his opponent’s team. The French side directly claimed that the Serb might have been exaggerating his problems to throw his opponent off his game, although at the same time, coach Julien Gille acknowledged that it is impossible to assess the athlete’s actual health from the sidelines, and the situation remains ambiguous.

Djokovic himself did not publicly respond to these accusations, but he reacted emotionally to the behavior of the crowd, who constantly whistled and made noise, prompting him to even address the umpire, emphasizing the lack of respect for the players during the match.

After the match, the Serbian also admitted that the tense atmosphere affected his emotions and made it clear that he does not always feel comfortable in matches against local French tennis players, especially when the stadium’s support is entirely on his opponent’s side. Despite the controversy and tension, Djokovic continued his run in the tournament, advancing to the third round of Roland Garros for a record 21st consecutive time, and also set another historic milestone by becoming the first man to play 120 matches at a single Grand Slam tournament.

In the next round, he will face young Brazilian João Fonseca, who staged a stunning comeback after trailing 0-2 in sets, so the Serbian faces another test amid heightened scrutiny and the scandalous atmosphere surrounding his play.
