In Kyiv, air defense systems did not shoot down a single ballistic missile during the Russian attack

On the night of August 4–5, Russian forces launched a combined attack on Ukraine, using ballistic missiles and attack drones. Air defense forces neutralized 98 enemy drones, but the Ukrainian Air Force did not report shooting down any ballistic missiles.

According to military sources, the Russian army attacked Ukraine with 115 attack drones of the Shahed, “Gerbera,” “Italmas,” and “Parody” types, as well as 28 missiles.

Specifically, the enemy used:

  • four “Zircon/Onyx” anti-ship missiles;
  • 24 “Iskander-M/S-400” ballistic missiles.

The Kyiv region was the main target of the nighttime attack.

As of 8:30 a.m., units of the Ukrainian Defense Forces had neutralized 98 Russian drones in the north, east, and south of the country.

Some of the enemy drones were destroyed by fire, while others were neutralized by electronic warfare systems.

The Ukrainian Air Force reported that missile strikes and 17 attack drones were recorded at 26 locations.

In addition, debris from downed aerial targets was recorded at six more locations.

The morning briefing from the Ukrainian Air Force did not include any information about ballistic missiles being shot down.

On the night of August 5, Russian troops launched a ballistic missile strike on Kyiv. Published video footage shows numerous simultaneous detonations following a missile explosion, which may indicate the use of a cluster warhead.

Over the past 24 hours, Russian forces have attacked the Dnipropetrovsk region nearly 20 times, using drones, artillery, and guided aerial bombs. The shelling damaged civilian infrastructure, but there were no casualties.

As a result of a nighttime attack by Russian forces on the Kyiv region on August 5, 2026, 14 people were killed and another 27 civilians were wounded. Rescue workers continue to deal with the aftermath of the strikes and extinguish fires in several districts of the region.

Over the past 24 hours, on August 4, Russian troops attacked the Zaporizhzhia region 1,052 times, striking 50 settlements in the region. Two people were injured as a result of shelling in Zaporizhzhia and the Zaporizhzhia district.

On the night of August 5, Russian troops struck a critical infrastructure facility in Chuhuiv, Kharkiv Oblast. As a result of the attack, approximately 13,300 customers were left without electricity.
