Poland has stated that it will not transfer weapons to Ukraine under the SAFE program

Polish Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz stated that the weapons purchased under the SAFE program will not be sent to Ukraine.

Speaking at a Sejm session, the head of the Defense Ministry emphasized that implementing the program is one of the government’s key priorities. According to him, 63 contracts totaling approximately 120 billion zlotys were signed with Polish defense industry companies over a three-day period in late May.

The government is now moving to the second phase of the SAFE program, namely joint procurement with other countries. Among these, the Defense Minister specifically mentioned the purchase of aerial refueling aircraft in cooperation with Spain and new training helicopters.

Kosiniak-Kamysz also accused the opposition of spreading fake news about the SAFE program, specifically that funds from the program would allegedly end up in German industry. “This is a Polish program, conceived in Poland and approved by the European Commission,” he said, emphasizing that the list of procurements for Poland was drawn up “under the direction of the General Staff of the Polish Armed Forces.”

According to him, the latest fake news claims that the equipment ordered by Poland will end up with the Ukrainian armed forces.

“No equipment will end up in Ukraine,” he assured. As the minister emphasized, in accordance with the law, the Armed Forces Support Fund, through which purchases are made under the SAFE program, serves solely to finance the modernization of the Polish Armed Forces.

The Defense Minister also addressed the issue of current Polish-Ukrainian relations, particularly the controversy in Poland sparked by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s decision to name one of the units after UPA heroes. Kosiniak-Kamysz emphasized that this decision is unacceptable, but added that currently “the frontier of Polish security lies on the Ukrainian-Russian front.”

This was reported by PAP.

Poland is once again not involved in key negotiations regarding Ukraine – TVP World.

As a reminder, the U.S. will provide Poland with a $2 billion loan to purchase weapons: F-35 fighter jets, Patriot air defense missile systems, and Abrams tanks.

Earlier, Poland signed an agreement with the U.S. for the supply of 96 AH-64E Apache Guardian attack helicopters, along with a logistics and training package, for a total cost of $10 billion.
