Ukraine has seized the initiative on the front lines and is liberating territory – CNN
For the first time in a long while, Ukraine has liberated more territory in a single month than Russia has seized, thanks to the occupiers’ exhausted offensive and Ukraine’s advantage in drones. Ukrainian forces have seized the initiative, while the enemy is merely creating the illusion of active operations, unable to hold its positions.
CNN reports this.
According to an analysis by the Institute for the Study of War, last month Russia suffered a net loss of territory for the first time since August 2024. Mykhailo Fedorov noted that 35,000 Russians were killed in March and April, leaving the aggressor short of forces for operations. These successes are due to an advantage in drones and strikes on the enemy’s logistics, ammunition depots, and command posts.
In the Zaporizhzhia sector, control has been regained over territories lost months ago, as the front line is saturated with drones. Ukraine has also intensified attacks on oil and gas infrastructure deep within Russian territory, limiting Moscow’s export revenues. The situation for the occupiers is complicated by technological isolation, particularly restrictions on access to Starlink and the blocking of Telegram. Russia’s total losses over four years of war are estimated at 352,000 killed, although the aggressor continues massive shelling of Ukrainian cities.
The occupiers complain that the Ukrainian Armed Forces are cutting off the land corridor to Crimea with drones.
The Ukrainian Armed Forces eliminated another 1,020 Russian troops on the front lines over the past 24 hours.
