Ukrainian drones killed Russian commander Naran Ochir-Goryaev, who had previously reported on the alleged assault and “capture” of Siversk and received awards for it.

According to reports, the officer was killed in a strike by Ukrainian drones. He had previously been honored as a Hero of Russia after reporting to Russian leadership on combat operations in the Siversk area.

"Madyar" released a video of the Russian soldier’s elimination and stated that he was one of the participants in the assault on Siversk in the Donetsk region.

"The pilots of the 20th SBS Brigade 'K-2' took out an interesting guy, the 'liberator' of Siversk, who reported to the old man in the bunker," he wrote.

This refers to Senior Lieutenant Naran Ochir-Goryaev. He served in the 6th Separate Guards Motorized Rifle Brigade and was awarded the title of Hero of Russia for leading the assault operations during the capture of Siversk.

In December 2025, Ochir-Goryaev personally briefed Russian President Vladimir Putin on the course of the fighting, and a few days later received the "Gold Star" medal from him.

This was reported with reference to a post by Robert "Madyar" Brovdi, commander of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ Unmanned Systems Forces, on Telegram.

Putin has been appearing in public more frequently amid falling approval ratings.

The Kremlin’s All-Russian Center for the Study of Public Opinion (VTsIOM) stopped publishing the “open” rating of trust in Putin after his approval rating dropped to its lowest level since the start of the full-scale war against Ukraine.
