Tesla resumes Roadster reservations with $50,000 deposit — Motor1
Tesla has resumed accepting reservations for the Roadster electric sports car in the United States: buyers must pay $50,000. The company also plans to unveil the vehicle on October 1 at SpaceX’s rocket testing site in Waco, Texas, Motor1 reports.
Reservation terms
To reserve a Roadster, a customer must immediately pay $5,000 by bank card and transfer another $45,000 within 10 days. Tesla calls the card payment fully refundable. At the same time, the reservation will not be considered final until the company receives the bank transfer.
Tesla collected the same total deposit from the first Roadster buyers starting in November 2017. According to the publication, production of the model has been postponed at least eight times since then, and no vehicles have been delivered to customers.

Specifications and production
Tesla previously promised the first customers a range of 620 miles, acceleration to 60 mph in less than 1.9 seconds, a top speed of more than 250 mph, and a base price of $200,000. These specifications have not been confirmed for the vehicle the company is due to show in October.
At the event in Waco, Tesla promises to disclose the Roadster’s price, technical specifications, and production targets. Elon Musk also mentioned a demonstration using SpaceX-developed cold-gas thrusters. The Roadster page currently features a countdown and a reservation button, but it does not list the model’s price, specifications, or a specific mass-production schedule.
