Touring Superleggera has unveiled an open-top restomod Ferrari 550 with a V12 engine and a manual transmission

The Italian design house Touring Superleggera unveiled the Veloce12 Aperta at Monterey Car Week—an open-top grand tourer based on the Ferrari 550 Maranello. The model is the third in the Veloce12 family, following the Coupé and Barchetta versions. It was created to mark the Milan-based company’s 100th anniversary.

According to Motor1, the car is equipped with a naturally aspirated 5.5-liter V12 engine producing 523 k. s. at 7,000 rpm. The engine is paired with a six-speed manual transmission and sends power to the rear wheels. It accelerates to 62 mph—or approximately 100 km/h—in 4.4 seconds, and has a top speed of 180 mph—about 290 km/h.

Instead of a conventional soft top, the Veloce12 Aperta features two removable lightweight panels that can be stored inside the car. An aluminum roll bar is mounted behind the passenger compartment. The trunk capacity is 11.5 cubic feet, or approximately 326 liters. The model also comes with Rimowa luggage sets and Giosa Milano leather cases.

The car features a carbon-fiber-reinforced structure and TracTive adaptive suspension. The model on display in Monterey is painted in Alba White, a shade that, according to Touring Superleggera, pays homage to the company’s 1960s models, notably the Maserati 3500 GT. The interior features leather and burgundy tones, and the “Aperta” lettering is crafted from solid 24-karat gold.

The official price of the Veloce12 Aperta has not been announced. Motor1 notes that its cost is likely to significantly exceed half a million euros, not including the cost of the donor Ferrari 550 Maranello.
