Tesla Model 3 in the UK reaches 250,000 miles on its original battery
In the United Kingdom, a 2021 Tesla Model 3 Long Range, previously used as a taxi, has covered 250,000 miles in less than five years. The car retained its original traction battery and electric motors, while the only part that failed prematurely was the external speaker in the front bumper.
As InsideEVs reports, the used electric vehicle was purchased by Richard Symons, who runs the UK's largest used Tesla showroom. He decided to check how a car with high mileage would perform in further use.
Maintenance at high mileage
With an average daily mileage of 150 miles, the Model 3 used six sets of tires, several sets of windshield wipers, and required the replacement of individual bushings. No other unscheduled repairs, apart from the speaker replacement, were mentioned in the report.

The vehicle also retained its original brake discs, pads, brake fluid, and coolant. The rear shock absorbers were replaced with upgraded ones not because of a malfunction, but to improve comfort: according to the publication, the previous shock absorbers were operational.
Range and charging
After 250,000 miles, the traction battery retained 84% of its original capacity. In summer weather, a fully charged car provides about 284 miles of real-world range, according to the data cited.
During an 11-minute charge at a Supercharger station, the battery charge level increased by 30%, while the range grew by 85 miles. Under Symons' ownership, the car averaged 4.15 miles per kilowatt-hour. The publication also notes that the electric vehicle has no squeaks or extraneous noises and still accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in 3.8 seconds.
