Volkswagen adds Tetris and PAC-MAN to multimedia systems of six U.S. models — Motor1

In the United States, Volkswagen of America has integrated the AirConsole gaming platform into the multimedia systems of six 2027 model-year vehicles: Atlas, Atlas Cross Sport, Tiguan, Golf GTI, Golf R, and ID.Buzz. Games can be played on the vehicle screen only while parked, while passengers’ smartphones are used as controllers, Motor1 reports.

20 games at launch

The initial AirConsole catalog includes 20 games. These include PAC-MAN Championship Edition, UNO Car Party!, and Tetris. Volkswagen has also added special PAC-MAN graphics and other content branded by the automaker. In some vehicles, gameplay is synchronized with the cabin’s ambient lighting.

To start playing, users must scan a QR code that appears on the infotainment display. No separate game controller is required. The platform requires a compatible multimedia system, an active vehicle connection, and a smartphone that meets the service’s requirements.

Access by subscription

AirConsole is available through the In-Vehicle Premium package in the myVW app. The free trial period for the Atlas, Atlas Cross Sport, Tiguan, Golf GTI, and Golf R is three months. ID.Buzz owners will receive one year of access at no additional cost.

After the trial period ends, a paid In-Vehicle Premium subscription is required to continue using AirConsole and other connected features. Volkswagen calls itself the first mass-market brand in the United States to offer the AirConsole platform on a factory-installed vehicle infotainment screen.
