From April 7 to 11, Kyiv will experience nighttime frosts and sleet
The Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center warns of a significant deterioration in weather conditions in the capital and the Kyiv region from April 7 to 11.
Forecasters predict the return of cold Arctic air, which will bring sub-freezing nighttime temperatures, rain, and even wet snow.
Experts note that such weather swings are a common occurrence during the spring in our region.
However, this year the contrast will be felt particularly sharply due to the abnormally warm start to the month, which lulled city residents into a false sense of security with premature spring warmth.
As early as Tuesday, April 7, clouds will cover the sky over the Kyiv region, although some clear spells are possible.
If the night passes without significant precipitation, light rain is expected during the day, and a northwesterly wind with speeds up to 12 m/s will make it feel colder.
Temperatures in the capital on April 7 will range from +6° to +8°, while across the region, the air will warm up to a maximum of +9°. This will be just the beginning of a prolonged cold snap, which will intensify over the next few days.
Forecasters identify the period from April 9 to 11 as the most critical, when the likelihood of hazardous weather conditions will increase.
Ground frosts ranging from 0° to -3° are expected as early as April 9, and later they may extend into the air.
As a reminder, the second week of April in Ukraine will be marked by a gradual cooling trend with snow and frost.
Also, March in Sweden was the warmest on record.
