A Russian attack destroyed a key Red Cross humanitarian warehouse in Kyiv
As a result of a massive Russian strike on the capital, a leased humanitarian warehouse belonging to the Ukrainian Red Cross was completely destroyed; it had housed more than 320,000 items of cargo and equipment with a total value of over 79 million hryvnias.
The facility, which was one of the organization’s main logistics centers, housed generators, heat pumps, and critically important medical equipment, including ultrasound machines, defibrillators, medical stretchers, and patient monitors. A significant portion of these supplies had previously been delivered to the country through the European Civil Protection Mechanism.
In addition to medical equipment, the fire destroyed a strategic reserve intended for emergency response to the consequences of shelling, fires, and evacuations, which included blankets, bedding, hygiene kits, sleeping kits, and plastic sheeting to cover damaged windows. The attack also damaged freight vehicles used for logistics. The organization emphasized that the destruction of the warehouse is a direct blow to the humanitarian infrastructure, on which the timely provision of aid to thousands of war-affected people from among the most vulnerable segments of the population depends.
