During his visit to Ukraine, U.S. Democratic Senator Richard Blumenthal visited Kyiv, specifically the Lukyanivka district, which recently suffered severe damage as a result of Russian attacks, and subsequently publicly expressed his support for Ukrainians and American diplomats who continue to work in the country despite constant threats.

On social media platform X, he sharply responded to statements by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, who called on American diplomats to leave Ukraine, and emphasized that he sees a completely different reality on the ground—people who do not succumb to pressure and continue to do their jobs even under difficult conditions.

Blumenthal noted: “Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov says that American diplomats must leave Ukraine—to avoid their bloodthirsty bombs. Right now in Ukraine, I am seeing with my own eyes brave American diplomats who refuse to bow to Russian intimidation.”

In his video address from Kyiv, he added that this is his tenth visit to Ukraine and that he sees how the country is holding on despite daily destruction, noting: “Ukraine remains strong despite the massive destruction in the country night after night,” thereby highlighting the resilience of Ukrainian society even amid constant attacks.
