Kyiv has received equipment from its Japanese partners to ensure the uninterrupted operation of artesian pumping stations that supply water to approximately 60,000 residents of the capital.
According to him, the new equipment is being installed at two artesian pumping stations in the capital as part of the “Emergency Recovery Program” implemented by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
These are water treatment systems capable of autonomous, uninterrupted operation, which are intended to strengthen the energy resilience of the city’s infrastructure amid the war.
Klitschko reported that a JICA delegation led by Senior Vice President Yuko Mitsui visited Kyiv’s water supply facilities and familiarized itself with the modernization process.
The mayor also noted that Japanese partners had previously provided the capital with 13 units of specialized equipment to address the aftermath of shelling, and last year, 11 social institutions received modern rehabilitation equipment.
In addition, Kyiv is set to receive 1,000 laptops for schools in the near future as part of the cooperation between JICA and the sister city of Kyoto.
Japan will provide Ukraine with over 7,000 units of computer and multimedia equipment, including personal computers, interactive panels, and laptops, for 382 vocational colleges and schools.
Japan has expressed interest in Ukrainian attack drones. Tokyo is considering purchasing them for its own Self-Defense Forces due to their proven effectiveness in combat against Russia.
