The escalators have stopped at Kyiv Central Station

The escalators have stopped at Kyiv Central Station

Passengers at Kyiv’s Central Railway Station are complaining en masse about the non-functioning elevators in the underground passage leading to the Vokzalna metro station.

Kyiv resident Oleksiy Gordeev reported this issue, and representatives of the transit operator promptly commented on the situation, explaining the reasons for the delay in repair work.

Due to a technical malfunction, people are forced to carry heavy luggage up steep stairs on their own.

The infrastructure problem has caused serious outrage among residents and visitors to the capital who use this route daily.

Constant breakdowns of the escalators have become a systemic issue, significantly reducing the comfort of getting around the city.

“There are three eternal things: fire, water, and non-functioning escalators at Ukrzaliznytsia’s Kyiv Central Station. Passengers with suitcases experience this unbreakable consistency every day and every minute,” Oleksiy Gordeev noted in his post.

The railway company’s press service responded to the criticism and stated that large-scale preparatory work is currently underway at the site.

Railway officials plan to carry out a comprehensive overhaul of the escalator equipment, rather than a routine “cosmetic” repair of components.

Representatives of the carrier officially identified three main factors that are significantly delaying the reconstruction process and preventing the rapid launch of the escalators:

The management of the state-owned enterprise has asked passengers to be understanding of the current situation at the station complex.

“We apologize for the temporary inconvenience and thank passengers for their patience. Preparatory work for the renovation is ongoing,” Ukrzaliznytsia emphasized.

Ukrzaliznytsia has changed the schedules of a number of commuter trains
