In Kyiv, a driver who drove into an underpass has been placed under preventive detention

On June 8, the Shevchenkivskyi District Court of Kyiv imposed a preventive measure on a driver suspected of causing a traffic accident in the capital that left four people dead. The decision was made as part of the investigation into the accident, in which a car crashed into an underpass filled with people. The circumstances of the tragedy are being determined.

 

The court remanded the 49-year-old Mercedes-Benz driver in custody for 60 days without the possibility of bail, at the request of investigators and juvenile prosecutors from the Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office.

The position of the prosecutor’s office in court was supported by Anton Yefimov, deputy head of the Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office.

According to the suspect’s lawyer, the man is reportedly not happy to be alive, and, for him, as a father of five children, what he is involved in is absolutely unbearable,” the Office of the Prosecutor General reports.

A fatal traffic accident in Kyiv claimed the lives of four people, and it turned out that the driver’s vehicle had a history of 39 traffic violations, most of which were for speeding. 

Police have detained the driver of a Mercedes who caused a fatal traffic accident in Kyiv on Friday. Four people were killed in the crash, and several others were injured.

An investigation is underway in Kyiv into the horrific accident on Chokolivsky Boulevard, where a Mercedes crashed into an underground pedestrian crossing at high speed. Four people were killed in the tragedy, including a 12-year-old boy.
