In Kyiv, a driver who drove into an underpass has been placed under preventive detention
On June 8, the Shevchenkivskyi District Court of Kyiv imposed a preventive measure on a driver suspected of causing a traffic accident in the capital that left four people dead. The court remanded the 49-year-old Mercedes-Benz driver in custody for 60 days without the possibility of bail, at the request of investigators and juvenile prosecutors from the Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office.
The position of the prosecutor’s office in court was supported by Anton Yefimov, deputy head of the Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office.
According to the suspect’s lawyer, the man is reportedly not happy to be alive, and, for him, “as a father of five children, what he is involved in is absolutely unbearable,” the Office of the Prosecutor General reports.
