Kyiv has begun preparations for the heating season with a budget of over 10 billion hryvnias

The city government has launched a multi-year energy resilience plan aimed at preparing the city for the coming winter and strengthening its energy independence.

According to Petro Panteleev, First Deputy Head of the Kyiv City State Administration, the priority areas include restoring infrastructure damaged by Russian shelling, developing cogeneration, and expanding the network of backup power sources. The plan includes both immediate measures and medium-term projects to decentralize the city’s power grid.

Special attention is given to the physical protection of infrastructure and the self-sufficiency of the residential sector. Residents are encouraged to participate in co-financing programs to transform their homes into energy-independent structures capable of functioning during power outages. Since some of the planned work is of national importance, Kyiv is counting on additional support from the state budget to complete large-scale energy projects.

Ukraine has begun stockpiling gas in storage facilities ahead of schedule.
