Kyiv will pay over 53 million hryvnias in financial assistance to Chernobyl survivors

To mark the 40th anniversary of the Chernobyl disaster, the Kyiv city government will provide a one-time targeted social payment to affected Kyiv residents and displaced persons who are currently living in the capital.

This was announced by the Kyiv City State Administration. The funds will be allocated under the “Care. For Kyiv Residents” program for socially vulnerable groups.

The largest payment, in the amount of 2,500 UAH, will be received by individuals with Group I disabilities related to the disaster. Children with disabilities, orphans who lost their parents in the accident, and individuals with Group II and III disabilities will each receive 1,500 UAH. Citizens classified as Category 2 victims will receive 1,200 UAH each, while widows or widowers of liquidators will receive 1,000 UAH each.

If a person is eligible for assistance under multiple categories, they will receive the single highest amount. Providing such support is part of nationwide initiatives leading up to the commemorative date, against the backdrop of ongoing Russian aggression and efforts to restore Ukraine’s energy security. The situation at the occupied nuclear facilities remains tense, underscoring the importance of preserving the memory of the consequences of man-made disasters.

The French have completedtheir assessment of damage at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant one year after the drone strike.

The National Guard of Ukraine is strengthening the protection of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant and the exclusion zone. In addition, cooperation with units of the Armed Forces is being deepened to ensure maximum security of the facilities.
