More than 30 fires broke out in ecosystems in the Kyiv region over the past 24 hours due to the heat

In the Kyiv region, the risk of wildfires has risen sharply due to hot and dry weather. Over the past 24 hours, emergency responders were dispatched 31 times to extinguish fires in natural ecosystems.

Dry grass, shrubs, trash, and thatch were burning. The State Emergency Service noted that human negligence remains the main cause of most fires—burning dry vegetation, careless handling of fire, cigarette butts, and campfires.

Rescue workers urge people not to burn dry vegetation or trash, not to leave fires unattended, and not to discard cigarette butts, as even a small spark can cause a large-scale fire in hot weather.

More than 300,000 people have been evacuated in France and Spain due to massive wildfires that have swept through regions of Southern Europe. In southwestern France, in the Gironde region, more than 220,000 residents have left their homes. The fire there has spread across approximately 32,700 hectares.

As a reminder, French passengers who purchased train tickets to the region around Bordeaux will be able to exchange or refund them free of charge. This decision was made due to the large-scale wildfires that have complicated the situation in this area.
