A teenager drowned in Lake Verkhne Vygurivske in Troyeshchyna
A teenager has died in Lake Verkhne Vygurivske in Kyiv’s Desnianskyi District. Emergency services received a report of a possible drowning on June 11 at 10:41 p.m. Divers later recovered the victim’s body from the lake. The circumstances of the tragedy are being investigated.
A report of a possible drowning at Lake Verkhne Vygurivske was received by emergency services the previous day, June 11, at 10:41 p.m.
According to eyewitnesses, the boy dove underwater and suddenly disappeared from view. Rescuers who arrived at the scene immediately searched the perimeter of the lake with flashlights, but were unable to locate the teenager at night.
The following day, June 12, divers joined the search and, while examining the bottom, discovered the victim’s body at a depth of six meters, 20 meters from the shore. Using special equipment, the body was brought to shore; law enforcement agencies are currently investigating the circumstances of this tragic incident.
In light of the tragedy, the Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Kyiv once again urges residents and visitors to the capital to take their personal safety seriously while relaxing near bodies of water, to monitor their well-being, and to be mindful of those around them.
