Drunk driver in Kyiv tried to flee in reverse and veered off the road video

In the Pecherskyi district of the capital, law enforcement officers detained an intoxicated driver who provoked a road rage incident and caused a traffic accident while attempting to flee the scene. The offender first used a stick to smash the headlight on another road user’s scooter, then got behind the wheel of his own car and, while backing up, crashed into a metal fence. 

Witnesses to the accident, along with the person who reported it, managed to block the offender’s vehicle on their own and hold him until the patrol crew arrived.

Upon arriving at the scene of the incident, which was reported via the 112 emergency hotline, the patrol officers promptly detained the aggressive man, who showed clear signs of severe alcohol intoxication. The driver agreed to undergo an official breathalyzer test using a special Drager device to determine his level of intoxication. The test result showed 1.08 parts per thousand alcohol in the driver’s blood, which significantly exceeds the maximum legal limit.

Law enforcement officers filed several administrative reports against the detainee, including a report under Article 130 for driving a vehicle while intoxicated and under Article 124 of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses for violating traffic rules, which resulted in property damage. In addition, patrol officers issued an official report on the driver’s administrative detention. An investigative team was called to the scene to conduct further procedural actions and establish all the legal circumstances of the incident.
