Kyiv police have charged a woman with causing a traffic accident while under the influence of drugs

Investigators from the Shevchenkivskyi District Police Department in Kyiv have charged a 38-year-old Kyiv resident who, while under the influence of drugs, caused a traffic accident with serious consequences on Hlybochytska Street. 

This was reported by the Kyiv Police.

While driving a Nissan, the woman lost control of the vehicle, veered into oncoming traffic, and collided with a Lexus SUV. As a result of the accident, a 30-year-old passenger in the Nissan sustained serious injuries, including a closed head injury and skull fractures.

Currently, law enforcement officials have gathered evidence and are charging the driver with violating traffic safety rules while intoxicated under Part 2 of Article 286-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The pre-trial investigation established that the driver failed to take road conditions into account and exceeded the safe speed limit, which led to a loss of control over the vehicle. The penalty under the charged article provides for imprisonment for up to eight years with the revocation of the right to drive vehicles. Thus, the police have completed the stage of gathering preliminary evidence and are preparing materials for further judicial consideration of the case.

As a reminder, eight people were injured in a traffic accident in the Chernihiv region.

Additionally, in Rivne region, road workers were charged in connection with a traffic accident that resulted in three fatalities.
