The police have debunked false reports of a conflict with the TCC in Troyeshchyna
In the Desnianskyi district of Kyiv, law enforcement officers apprehended a fleeing driver who had covered his license plates and was flagrantly violating traffic laws.
During the arrest, a group of aggressive bystanders attempted to wrest the man from the patrol officers, using tear gas against the officers and damaging the patrol car.
After the situation was brought under control, it turned out that the detainee was wanted for violating mobilization laws, so he was taken to the regional recruitment center.
The incident began during a patrol when officers noticed a Nissan with concealed license plates.
The driver ignored the order to stop and attempted to evade pursuit by driving into a pedestrian zone.
“The driver did not respond to the police officers’ lawful demand to stop but instead attempted to flee: he drove onto the sidewalk and continued moving along it, thereby endangering those around him. To stop the offense and apprehend the offender, the patrol officers called for backup and blocked the suspect’s vehicle,” law enforcement officials reported.
To apprehend the suspect, the officers used special equipment and blocked his vehicle with several patrol cars. The man was pulled from the vehicle and handcuffed in accordance with Article 45 of the Law of Ukraine “On the National Police.”
At that moment, bystanders intervened in the proceedings and attempted to forcibly free the detained driver.
“While the officers were carrying out their duties, a group of people approached the scene and attempted to obstruct the lawful actions of the police. Specifically, they used tear gas against the officers and damaged a police vehicle,” the officers added.
The patrol officers were forced to use physical force and pepper spray to repel the attack by the aggressive crowd, after which they called in the investigative team.
The Nissan driver was issued a citation for covered license plates and charged with an administrative offense for failing to stop when ordered to do so.
This was reported by the Kyiv Patrol Police on Facebook.
