The prosecutor's office is demanding the restoration of an architectural landmark in downtown Kyiv

The Shevchenkivskyi District Prosecutor’s Office of Kyiv has initiated legal proceedings to protect a unique architectural landmark on Yaroslaviv Val Street.

Law enforcement officials are demanding that the property owner be ordered to immediately restore the building to proper technical condition to halt its deterioration.

The building in question is the famous “Kuznetsov Apartment Building,” also known as the “Teshner Estate,” built back in 1897.

The building was designed by the renowned architect Mykola Gardenin and is a rare example of late 19th-century architecture that has escaped redevelopment.

The three-story mansion has retained its original architectural form and authentic interior stucco work, which holds special cultural value.

However, due to inadequate maintenance by those responsible, this historical heritage is now under direct threat of disappearance.

Back in 2021, a preservation agreement was signed between the Kyiv City State Administration’s Department of Cultural Heritage Protection and the local homeowners’ association.

According to the document, the property manager undertook to carry out timely repairs and ensure the preservation of the site.

A prosecutor’s inspection found that the terms of the agreement and the requirements of the Law of Ukraine “On the Protection of Cultural Heritage” are being systematically ignored.

The building is in poor condition, indicating prolonged inaction on the part of those responsible for it.

As a reminder, in Kyiv, an official from the Department of Education will face trial for overpaying nearly ₴2 million in electricity bills.

Also, in Obolon, a woman was detained for setting fire to the doors of acquaintances.
