A fatal traffic accident involving a passenger car and a bus occurred in Brovary, Kyiv Oblast. Two children were killed, and seven others are currently hospitalized. The accident occurred on the evening of June 19, when the car veered into oncoming traffic.
A severe traffic accident occurred in Brovary, Kyiv Oblast, resulting in the deaths of two children and numerous injuries. A VAZ passenger car collided with a bus after, according to preliminary police reports, it veered into oncoming traffic. The impact was so severe that the consequences were tragic for everyone inside the car.
The accident occurred on June 19 at approximately 7:55 p.m. on Pryvokzalna Street. A 29-year-old man was behind the wheel of the VAZ, while a 54-year-old man was driving the bus. As it turned out later, there were 10 people in the car—three adults and seven children aged 2 to 11.
The youngest child, a 2-year-old girl, died at the scene. Another victim, a 4-year-old girl, later died in the hospital despite the efforts of medical staff. Seven people, including children, remain in the hospital with injuries of varying severity; one of the victims was discharged home after receiving treatment. “Everyone—both adults and children—sustained significant injuries and trauma,” said Brovary Mayor Ihor Sapozhko, adding that the condition of those hospitalized remains serious.
The Kyiv Regional Police have opened a criminal investigation into a traffic violation that resulted in fatalities. Investigators are determining all the circumstances of the accident, including the reasons for veering into oncoming traffic and the speed of the vehicles. The Kyiv Regional Police reported this on Facebook.
On Sunday, June 21, metro service and several public transportation routes in central Kyiv will be temporarily adjusted. The restrictions are related to public events and will be in effect during the morning.
