Urgent repair and restoration work is underway on the grounds of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra after a Russian drone struck the Cathedral of the Dormition. Rescue workers are working quickly to address the aftermath of the attack and prevent further damage to the historic site.
Currently, State Emergency Service units are carefully covering the cathedral’s damaged structures with protective sheeting to shield the shrine from rain and adverse weather conditions. According to the Minister of Internal Affairs, every secured element is a vital contribution to preserving this unique structure, which has withstood wars and trials for centuries. The minister expressed his gratitude to all emergency responders involved for saving this cultural heritage site.
Ihor Klymenko emphasized that Russia is deliberately targeting not only residential buildings but is also attempting to destroy Ukraine’s memory, culture, and spiritual identity. Despite the severe blows, Ukraine will certainly rebuild everything that has been destroyed and preserve its priceless history.
