In Kyiv, a man left two grenades on the doorstep of a restaurant
In Kyiv’s Dnipro District, law enforcement officers detained a man who left a jacket containing ammunition near a restaurant. He has already been notified that he is suspected of illegal handling of ammunition.
According to police, passersby recently noticed an abandoned jacket on the railing of the stairs leading to one of the restaurants. Inside the jacket, law enforcement officers found two grenade casings and a fuse.
An investigative team and bomb disposal experts quickly arrived at the scene, where they defused and seized the dangerous items.
During the investigation, criminal investigators, working together with criminal analysis specialists, identified the man who had left the ammunition.
He turned out to be a 36-year-old resident of Kyiv, whom law enforcement officers detained in accordance with the law.
Investigators are currently determining the origin of the seized ammunition.
Under the procedural guidance of the Dnipro District Prosecutor’s Office in Kyiv, the man was notified of his status as a suspect under Part 1 of Article 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine—the illegal acquisition and possession of ammunition without the permission required by law.
The article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for up to seven years.
