In Kyiv, an indictment has been filed against a man whom law enforcement officials consider a "criminal leader" and accuse of exerting criminal influence within Ukraine.
This was reported by the Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office.
According to the investigation, the defendant coordinated the actions of individuals with criminal pasts and gave them instructions to physically assault people who allegedly had conflicts with or “offended” other individuals.
One of the documented incidents occurred in December 2024, when a man approached the suspect with a request to organize, for a fee, the beating of a Kyiv resident due to a personal conflict.
As the investigation established, the victim was ambushed near his workplace, after which he was threatened and struck several times on the head.
The defendant’s actions have been classified as the exercise of criminal influence, and the perpetrator of the attack is charged with assault and battery with the intent to intimidate the victim.
The case has now been referred to court for trial.
Earlier, the National Police’s Department of Strategic Investigations detained the “Ternopil overseer” and his 47-year-old accomplice, who had set up a scheme to evade mobilization. The perpetrators promised conscripts that they would be removed from the wanted list in the “Oberig” electronic system, charging between $3,000 and $4,000 for their services.
