In Kyiv, the seasonal speed limit increase to 80 km/h will not be implemented on certain roads this spring and summer. This decision was made following a comprehensive inspection of the city’s road network.
Experts inspected the condition of previously identified sections in accordance with the current methodology for setting speed limits. The assessment took into account the presence of public transit lanes, left turns, areas with limited visibility, as well as traffic accident statistics from the previous year. Additionally, planned repair work, during which temporary traffic management schemes will be in effect, was considered.
The Department notes that the decisions were also influenced by the effects of severe winter weather conditions, which deteriorated the condition of the road surface.
Currently, municipal services are working to restore infrastructure and ensure the stable operation of the capital’s transportation system. Road user safety remains a priority, so the city is taking measures to reduce speeds and minimize accidents.
Therefore, from April 1 to November 1, the standard speed limit of up to 50 km/h will be in effect in Kyiv, in accordance with the Traffic Rules of Ukraine.
Drivers are urged to be attentive behind the wheel and strictly follow traffic rules.
