Two hybrid photovoltaic power stations have been installed in the modern treatment and diagnostic wing of the Okhmatdyt National Children’s Specialized Hospital in Kyiv.

The total capacity of the installed solar modules is 75.565 kW, and that of the inverters is 100 kW; the system is also equipped with high-capacity batteries with a total capacity of 92.16 kWh. The new equipment will allow the medical facility to independently generate clean electricity and store it. This creates a reliable backup power supply in case of sudden outages in the main power grid or when the hospital’s own current generation is insufficient.

Strengthening energy self-sufficiency is a vital step for “Okhmatdyt,” which treats approximately 650 patients daily from all corners of Ukraine. Last year alone, the hospital’s specialists performed more than 11,500 surgeries, a third of which were extremely complex and unique. The hospital’s energy modernization was carried out as part of the “Ray of Hope” joint initiative between the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Energy. In total, by the end of this year, this program aims to equip 60 medical facilities with solar power stations, and another 200 facilities will receive alternative power sources through the HEAL Ukraine project.

This was reported on the Ministry of Health’s website.

Earlier, the Okhmatdyt National Children’s Specialized Hospital, the State Emergency Service, and the Ukrainian Armed Forces jointly saved the life of 8-month-old Roma from Volyn, who urgently needed a liver transplant.

Doctors at the Okhmatdyt National Children’s Specialized Hospital helped care for the severely premature infant, who was born at 29 weeks of gestation, weighing only 1,060 grams and measuring 38 centimeters in length. The child’s condition at birth was critical.
